About Facilitative Mediation

Key features
Peacemakers recommends the Facilitative Mediation Model. The mediator’s role is to resolve the dispute while serving as a neutral to “facilitate” communication between the parties. The mediator does not evaluate the merits of a case and does not recommend an outcome. Parties are encouraged to focus on the outcomes they seek rather than on fault-finding. They can exchange information with greater openness as the information would not be used by the mediator to prescribe an outcome later.
